Coaches

Wallkill Valley Recreation Soccer believes that the coaches are the core to the league.  We are non-competitive in that our priority is letting the kids have fun while learning the sport in a structured format.  Even if you do not have soccer experience, but do have the will to coach, you can coach!  We want your coaching experience to be a positive experience.  We host New Jersey Youth Soccer training sessions for the novice coaches on running sample practices with different games that can be played that are age appropriate.  If you desire to learn more and obtain your State "F" or "E" certificate, the costs will be reimbursed for returning coaches.
What is needed to be a coach?
Requirements are:
  • Background Check through Hardyston, see above
  • CDC Concussion Awareness Online Course
Do you offer training?
Yes, all coaches are automatically enrolled into the United Soccer Coaches Fundamentals of Coaching Course and are granted access to the Player Development Curriculum. Those seeking additional training can take other United Soccer Coaches courses or attend a state licensing course. If you'd like another coach to shadow you or help with a practice or 2 that can be arranged in our coaches meeting.
Do I need to buy training equipment?
No.. balls, vests, cones, and first aid kit are provided by the club.
What days do I practice?
Practices are assigned to days you are available either once or twice a week depending on the age group. We try to work with all coaches to schedule the practices together in our coaches meeting to accommodate all.
